Production in Peru :)

Today we were so fortune to receive these happy pictures from our factory in Peru. I just love to get pictures from our sourcing agent, after she has been on inspection at our factory – I don´t know about you guys, but I find it SOO fascinating to see how clothing is actually coming to live by real people :)

Do you ever consider where the clothes you are wearing has been produced??

Notice the small black satin band on the garment.. This is “The Baand´s” trademark as a neck label. Proves that this is actual our production – otherwise it would be difficult to see at this stage ;)

Our brand is being produced at a very high standard factory in Lima/Peru. The same factory which is also producing for brands like “Isabel Marant”, “Zadig & Voltaire”, and many other big brands..  However, the funny thing is, that right now our brand is still so small, that our order of garments is being produced in the factory´s sample room (where they normally makes the sample collections for really big brands).. Of course this will change soon! :)

In Peru it is not an unusual sight to see men working in the textile industry. It is a very respected job to be working by ex. the sewing machines, because this is considered a technical job more than a creative and feminine job.

Monday in Lima and a visit to the ribbon factory

After a 2 hour drive we finally arrived to the factory. The factory owner, Mario, invited us on a BIG tour at his impressive factory. It was very exciting to see how our black ribbon used for “The Baand” neck label is actually produced.

More than 1 million meters of ribbon is produced at this factory every day!! Quite impressive right!!?

During our tour at the factory, we found out that not only do they produce ribbon but this factory also spins cotton, produces tread, yarn, melange cotton (as seen above) and even has a dye-house

This is cotton yarn ready to be mercerised (a chemical treatment that makes the cotton shine like silk)

After visiting the factory and having a very nice lunch at a Japanese/Peruvian restaurant, we took a little trip to an other part of the Lima city, called Baranco. This is a very nice and more “bohemian” part of Lima. In the centre of Baranco there is an old church invaded by very big birds – reminded me of an old  ”Hitchcock” movie

Here Stine is wearing “Isabel Marent” sweater, “Hugo Boss” jeans, “The baand”  tank top with buttons and a new scarf from an peruvian brand called “Aziz”

Priscilla is wearing “Kuyichi” jeans, “Thomas Burberry”  top, and a nice striped vest from an unknown brand.

Julie is wearing a black “The Baand”  jumpsuit, “Isabel Marent” sweater, “By Malene Birger” scarf.

Saturday at La Molina

After having bought some things at the local supermarket “Wong”, we sat down and enjoyed the funny Peruvian fruit “Granadilla”, which you eat by sucking the content out – it tastes very good and sweet :)

When we came home from the supermarket, there was a nice barbecue going on in the garden next to the swimming pool and Stine and I was invited :-) Here we tried a lot of different Peruvian specialities

Such as grilled bananas stuffed with Peanut butter

A “Cusco” beer, a jungle coffee and the national drink “Pisco Sour” and a lot of other nice things

All in all, we had a really nice evening in the company of our agent and her family – so nice and welcoming people!
